The DIGITPWD Program is a transformative initiative by CODAH designed to equip young persons with disabilities with essential soft and digital skills. The goal is to empower them to thrive in today’s digital world, become employable, and take their rightful place as productive members of society.

Launched in response to the widespread exclusion of people with disabilities from employment and skill development opportunities, DIGITPWD is bridging the gap between potential and access.

Nigeria faces rising levels of poverty, insecurity, and unemployment. These challenges disproportionately affect persons with disabilities (PWDs), who face:

  • Limited access to education and skill-building programs

  • Weak legal frameworks protecting workplace inclusion

  • Discrimination and negative stereotypes by employers

  • Attitudinal and physical barriers in employment spaces

According to the UNDP (2015), more than 60% of PWDs in Nigeria are unemployed, and only about 4% have access to economic empowerment. Common roles for persons with disabilities often fall into informal or marginalized sectors such as street begging or petty trading. Even with an education, many still face employer bias and exclusion from the workforce.

The DIGITPWD program delivers:

  • Digital Skills Training: Courses in areas such as graphic design, digital marketing, web development, social media management, and content creation.

  • Soft Skills Development: Training on communication, teamwork, time management, and leadership.

  • Job Placement Support: We partner with inclusive companies to connect trainees with employment opportunities.
