Hands & Voices: Early Steps for Deaf Kids

This is a flagship early intervention program designed to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing children aged 0-5. The program ensures that these children receive the early language exposure, communication tools, and family-centered support needed for holistic growth, inclusion, and lifelong success. We believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive, and that begins with language access from birth.
Why This Matters
The early years of a child's life are critical for cognitive, emotional, and social development. For Deaf children, access to language and communication in those early years can make the difference between thriving and falling behind.
Unfortunately, many Deaf children in Nigeria do not receive early intervention services due to:
Lack of awareness among families and caregivers.
Inadequate health and education systems to detect and respond to hearing loss early.
Limited access to inclusive, supportive environments for both the child and their family.
This often leads to delays in language development, poor academic outcomes, and social isolation later in life.
Through the Hands & Voices program, we deliver:
Early Language Development: Sign language exposure and learning activities tailored for infants and toddlers.
Family Support Services: Guidance, counseling, and sign language training for parents and caregivers to strengthen family communication.
Parental Education Workshops: Equipping families with the tools and knowledge to advocate for their child’s rights and needs.
Community Outreach & Screening: Awareness campaigns and early hearing detection initiatives to reach more children at risk.
